I know that this entry has nothing to do with work or the office or whatever, but this has been an incredibly slow week/month/summer so far, and there isn't a whole lot for me to write about to fill up these long afternoon hours (besides reading about Lindsay Lohan's latest violation of the law). But get ready for some excitement because GUESS WHAT ARRIVED THIS MORNING? My new iPhone! Call me a nerd, call me a dork, call me a loser, and I will graciously accept the fact that I am all of these things. Yup. I am. And here I go on a rant about my new toy.The iPhone was released June 29 to much anticipation. I had flown into St. Louis that day to visit Alex and his family, but his flight was delayed and so his brother Matthew picked me up from the airport. Like the good, diligent girlfriend and frère we are, we stood in line outside of the Apple store at the mall for about an hour until it was 6 o'clock and they opened the doors. I ended up buying Alex's iPhone for him, since he still hadn't shown up and we had reached the front of the line. He obviously paid me back, but ever since, I have ached with longing for an iPhone of my own. They are really cool...I hope you have had a chance to look at one in the past few weeks. A couple of my other friends have iPhones as well, and I so badly wanted to be part of that exclusive I-have-the-best-and-coolest-phone-EVER-and-you're-just-jealous group.
Thus, the reason that an iPhone was delivered here to the office this morning. And the fact that my birthday is in a week. The only thing that stinks is that my current contract with Verizon does not officially end until July 31. If I plug my new iPhone into my computer at any time before that day, those Verizon whores will charge me a $175 early termination fee. And if (for some unknown reason) I activate my iPhone after July 31, Verizon will have given away my phone number. So I have six days left with my crappy old phone and crappy old service, and then it is on to bigger and better things!! I will fill that time doing three things: finding a case of some sort for my iPhone, since the inside of my purse is hazardous; reading the new Harry Potter; and celebrating my new apartment by throwing some sort of bash this weekend...if and only IF I finish Harry Potter.
