They Say it's Your Birthday

...well it's my birthday tooo-oooo.

Or, rather, yesterday was my birthday. Hooray! The big 23! Am I now officially in my mid-twenties, or is 23 the last year of the early-twenties? Hmm. I think it's still early-twenties. That's what I want to believe, anyway. Thanks to everyone for the lovely cards and messages and flowers and completely-unnecessary gifts! It's funny how getting real mail is so exciting nowadays. Something else exciting came in the mail yesterday too: my new wardrobe! (I wish that meant a new wardrobe of cute skirts and dresses and whatnot, but I actually mean this.) You see, my roommates and I moved into our new apartment a couple of weeks ago, and because I'm out of town a lot, I stepped up and took the smaller bedroom in the basement which is unfortunately sans closet. Horrifying, I know. So I bought this lovely wardrobe from Ikea and it took almost three weeks to arrive, but arrive it did yesterday and I spent all afternoon putting it together. It was tricky at times, but as a kid I LOVED following all the step-by-step directions to put my Lego sets together, so comparatively this was a piece o' cake.

And speaking of cake, I have not made one yet. I think I have decided on Funfetti this year. I usually opt for marble swirl with chocolate icing, but I've just had a hankering for Funfetti recently. It screams "summer." Oh boy, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! And I think I will do cupcakes. Every day I check this site through Kate's blog, and though I could never make anything as intricate or creative as all of these cupcakes are, it makes me hungry for the little buggers. Maybe it will also be better for portion-control, until I somehow reason myself into believing that scarfing down three cupcakes in one sitting is totally okay. WHATEVER, it's my birthday, I'll do what I want!

And on a sad note, I would like to thank my wonderful roommates for getting me a bit more tipsy than I should have been after two drinks on a Thursday night. Who knew that two drinks would make me feel so crunk? Before you go calling me a lightweight (er...which I am), I must say that those rum and cokes were VERY strong. It was one of those nights where I fumbled through the getting-ready-for-bed process, fell asleep before my head hit the pillow, and I think I snored. Perhaps it's a good thing my room is in the basement.
